Our Story
The Grafters Group was born from a shared passion for providing a truly personal and tailored service within the recruitment sector. Our founders, Nick Graff and Sian Maher, met in the late 1980s while working for a large national recruitment agency. Both already recognised the human element within the recruitment process, they saw an opportunity to offer something different. They realised that businesses needed a more genuine and invested approach, one that focused on building lasting relationships rather than just filling positions. With this shared vision, they embarked on a journey to establish Grafters Recruitment Consultants in 1999.
This new venture aimed to revolutionise recruitment in the South East, offering a refreshing alternative to the target-driven, sales-focused environment often associated with the industry. Grafters quickly established itself as the leading recruitment agency in the area, earning numerous accolades along the way. This success was built on the principles of honesty, integrity, and a genuine commitment to understanding both the needs of clients and the aspirations of candidates.
Driven by their continued success and growing client base, Nick and Sian expanded the Grafters Group, establishing Grafters Accountancy Personnel in 2006 and Grafters Transport in 2012. Each division boasts a dedicated team of experienced and qualified consultants, all driven by the same core values that have made Grafters Group synonymous with quality recruitment services.
